My husband’s story December 2021: All of the meat from two elk came back smelling horrible. The other processors were full when we got the elk, and Rusty’s was willing to meet us on a Sunday for the drop off, which we appreciated. We had used Rusty’s once before and the burger came back mushy, so we didn’t want to use them again, but we felt like we had no other option. We had cleaned the elk up and they were in great shape when we dropped them off. When I got my meat the worker gave me one box, and I said I should have gotten more pounds than that, so Rusty called me back and said they found more of my meat. The first box ended up being inedible, it smells rotten. The second box smells fine, so I don’t think it was from my elk. My nephew also got rotten smelling meat back. He called Rusty and told him, and Rusty said he would “take care of us.” So far nothing has happened. That is hundreds of dollars and our time and meat wasted. If we ever have this issue again, we will NEVER use Rusty’s again, will process our own, if we must. Stay away!
